4 Prayers For Career Moms
Moms… Have you ever had one of those days? The kids won't stop fighting, the baby is teething and won't be put down. The teens need rides to a million places and all you want to do is get some homework or work done (or both in my case), but the laundry isn’t folding itself and the kitchen hasn’t been mopped in weeks?!?
I feel ya sista! This season of life is hard. People look on and wonder how I do it “all”? Well, I don’t. I don’t do it all. Many things get left undone (mainly the laundry—so if my kids show up in the same clothes again tomorrow, don’t judge me). But, many things do get done, although not by my own volition. I have an incredible family and support. My husband constantly amazes me and makes me glad I married him. When he knows I have finals or grant deadlines, he takes the girls for a bike ride to get out of the house. My amazing mom uses her paid time off to watch my kids for a couple days when I have to hit the road for the next speaking event. I have amazing friends who have helped me pack and unpack when moving, clean my house, and let me text and vent when I feel like I cant get through the day. THESE people do it all! I am so grateful to them!
I have taken the challenge and thrown caution to the wind to go after the calling on my life. This season is one of preparation, a spiritual boot camp if you will. A master’s degree and running a non-profit, all while married with five- cross that, down to four, kids? Am I crazy? No, I'm a dreamer who believes that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
There are certain prayers I say to get me through the day, and minute sometimes. Let me share them with you for one of your days…
1. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. "God, give me the strength for this. I can’t do this anymore and I need you to get me through."
2. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. "God, what you started you will finish. Don’t let me be dismayed or frustrated. Protect me, shield me, and guide me."
3. "You are my co-founder, Jesus. You started this non-profit and I need you to take on this project, this funding, this, this, this. I don’t want what you don’t want. Give me discernment Holy Spirit to follow your strategic plan."
4. I have the spirit of self-control and the fruit of kindness. "Let frustration not take over my emotions, Lord. Help me not to vomit unkind things on my kids and husband because of deadlines and stresses and pressures of life. You have anointed me first and foremost to be a wife and mother. Help me to show my family how important they are to me."
