Helping Others Overcome
~The Heart and Part Story of Kathy Bryan
Hi! I’m Kathy Bryan, VMP Mentor for Rebecca Bender Ministries. I am so very excited to be in the position to work with other survivors helping them to discover the treasure hidden within themselves.
Rebecca and I met at the 2012 JuST Conference in Washington, D.C. While we share a friendship, one thing we noticed right away is we both have a deep desire to share the true freedom available in Christ, with others. “Rescue,” for lack of a better word, doesn’t equal freedom; at least not the depth of the true freedom found when you are able to realize your identity in Christ. When the truth becomes planted firmly in your heart that the Creator of the Universe truly sees you through eyes of pure unadulterated love, calling you accepted, adopted, blessed, chosen, forgiven and redeemed, then you are free! That freedom will reign within, no matter your circumstance. That is but one of the truths I hope to continue to share with survivors and others. I want to both encourage them on their personal journey in relationship with Christ and in self-development.
Keith, my husband of 30 years, and I get to live and work in gorgeous Heber Springs, Arkansas, a tiny town about an hour north of Little Rock in the foothills of the beautiful Ozark Mountains. We have three wonderful children who have each married and blessed us with eight amazing grandchildren.
I have 49 years of experience on this great blue orb we call home, but somehow I am still quite young at heart. I love to try new things, in fact I recently tried para-sailing while on a brief vacation to the Emerald Coast. It was a-ma-zing!! I’m also a complete info junkie. I love to learn! My favorite questions seem to be “Why?” and “How?” and I will find out the answer!
In the course of my life I have worked in several different fields. I am currently an active, licensed Realtor, but have also held many positions within the banking industry, managed two restaurants simultaneously, owned and operated a large retail store, and was director for a domestic violence shelter, to name a few. With that said, I have also been a stay-at-home mom who home-schooled her children and had an in-home daycare.
In recent years, I have become an active speaker, not only sharing my personal story of overcoming sex trafficking, but also providing trainings and successfully advocating for stronger laws here in Arkansas. I am passionate about ending slavery and bringing the truth that God and the church play a mighty, mighty role in that goal. Modern day slavery can be abolished, if we all fight it together.
